Ansbach Elementary celebrates kindergarten

On May 27, 2026, Ansbach Elementary kindergarten students celebrated their milestone transition to first grade during a joyful “Kinder Celebration,” where the Class of 2038 showcased their growth through songs, including a spirited “We Will Go/We Are Going to 1st Grade Mash Up,” in front of proud families, followed by a community picnic on a beautiful spring day.

The Kinder Celebration, led by kindergarten teachers Dominique Baldonado and Kardawnzelle Abdullah, highlighted the tremendous academic, social, and emotional growth students achieved throughout their first year of school. Held at the school with families in attendance, the event provided students the opportunity to perform, reflect, and celebrate their accomplishments as they prepare to take the next big step into first grade.

Throughout the year, kindergarten students developed foundational literacy and math skills, learned how to work and play cooperatively, and gained independence in the classroom. The celebration served as both a recognition of this growth and a meaningful transition moment.

Students confidently performed songs they had practiced, including the energetic “We Will Go/We Are Going to 1st Grade Mash Up,” bringing smiles and applause from the audience.

“This celebration is about honoring how far our students have come—not just academically, but as confident, independent learners,” said Dominique Baldonado, Kindergarten Teacher. “Seeing them stand proudly and sing reminds us of the strong foundation they’ve built.”

The event also strengthened the connection between school and home, bringing families together to celebrate effort, perseverance, and progress. Parents watched as their children demonstrated newfound confidence and joy in learning.

“Kinder Celebration is a special moment for families to see their child’s growth firsthand,” said Kardawnzelle Abdullah, Kindergarten Teacher. “It’s not just about the performance—it’s about celebrating the journey each child has taken this year.”

Students themselves expressed excitement about moving forward. “I feel happy because I learned a lot and I’m ready for first grade!” said Milo E..

Following the ceremony, families gathered outdoors for a picnic, enjoying the warm May weather and continuing the celebration together. The event created lasting memories for students and families alike, reinforcing a love of learning and a sense of community.
