Ansbach Elementary launches STEM Night to celebrate student learning
ANSBACH, Germany – Ansbach Elementary School successfully hosted its first STEM Night on April 23, 2026, bringing together students, families, and staff for an evening focused on hands‑on science, technology, engineering, and math learning. The event highlighted student achievement, encouraged family engagement, and strengthened the school‑community connection.
More than a showcase of activities, STEM Night provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate problem‑solving skills, creativity, and confidence while engaging families in the learning process.
“Parents and kids said they had a great time, and all some of them wanted was maybe another 30 minutes since everything went so fast.,” said Dawna Pike, fifth‑grade teacher and event organizer. “The enthusiasm from students and families showed us how meaningful these experiences are. Our future STEM nights can only continue to excel”
All fifth‑grade students participated by completing science projects, which were displayed throughout the event. Families and visitors were invited to review the projects and vote for the best one, turning the showcase into an interactive and motivating experience for student scientists.
“I liked that there was a bunch of different projects and they were all super fascinating.” said Max H, fifth‑grade student. “I felt proud about winning first place my project was pretty easy but fun to do.”
In addition to the science project displays, attendees rotated through interactive learning stations including Coding, Water Cycle, Making a Rainbow, Tower Building, CSI, Earth and Environment, STEM Materials and Science Books with Activities, and Science Fair Support. These stations encouraged collaboration and hands‑on exploration across multiple STEM disciplines.
STEM Night was sponsored and organized by Dawna Pike, with support from other teachers who facilitated stations and activities, ensuring students across grade levels could participate.
“It was wonderful to see families learning together and students so excited to explain their thinking,” said Melissa Miles, teacher volunteer. “Events like this really show how strong the Ansbach Elementary community is.”
The evening was well attended, and families shared positive feedback about the engaging activities and the opportunity to connect with student learning in a meaningful way.
As the school’s first STEM Night, the event set a strong foundation for future programs. Ansbach Elementary hopes to continue this tradition, providing students with opportunities to explore, innovate, and celebrate their learning through STEM experiences.
